Remove the carcinogens that cause the 66% cancer rate for firefighters!
What is Doff’N DECON®?
Doff’N DECON® is packaged and labeled by Intelagard for the cleaning and decontamination of bunker and turnout gear. Doff’N DECON® can be used to neutralize common chemicals found on firefighter PPE i.e., Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Nitrogen Dioxide, Hydrogen Cyanide, etc.
Based on the decontamination formula originally created by Sandia National Laboratories under a grant from the US Department of Energy, and designed as a full-spectrum solution for chemical and biological decontamination, Doff’N DECON® is the only licensed DF200 formula on the market today that is both EPA-registered AND has undergone and passed more than a decade of U. S. government and military testing. As a result of this testing pedigree, Doff’N DECON® is in use by all branches of the United States military, all US Special Operations groups, and federal agencies such as the FBI, NSA, EPA, and Secret Service.
Doff’N DECON® is specifically marketed for use in cleaning firefighter turnout gear. It is extremely effective at neutralizing the many harmful chemicals that can be deposited on bunker gear during firefighting operations. Doff’N DECON® is used extensively for decontaminating diver dry suits as well as U.S. military combat uniforms. Doff’N DECON® can begin the decontamination process at the fire scene and complete it later. When applied as a foam prior to the doffing of PPE, it can reduce off-gassing and particulate exposure until a full cleaning can be completed.
Doff ‘n DECON™ is inherently biodegradable and suitable for daily use on:
● Turnout & Bunker Gear
● Dive Suits
● Police Vests
● Hazmat Suits
● Hardhats, Gloves & Boots
● PPE Tools & Supplies
How does Doff’N DECON® affect turnout gear warranties?
Warranties Summary: Doff’N DECON® DOES NOT VOID WARRANTY
This information is coming from GLOBE. The Globe Holding Company, LLC was acquired by MSA Safety Incorporated, considered a preeminent manufacturer of firefighting suits and equipment.
The majority of materials used in their suits are Nomex® and Kevlar® both are products of the DUPONT CORPORATION and have their own limited material warranties.
Such voidance of a manufacturers warranty would be a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Act of the 1987 Fair Trades Act.
How does Doff’N DECON® affect Nomex and Kevlar?
Both Kevlar® and Nomex® are very similar materials. Kevlar is very strong and Nomex is very heat resistant. Together they combine to make a strong and heat resistant fabric.
Effect Summary: Results from testing these two materials with exposure to hydrogen peroxide indicates no negative effect.
The results of the tests conducted in this work suggested that screening of candidate chemical protective clothing materials for hydrogen peroxide flammability hazards include the following considerations:
1.The material should not ignite on contact with hydrogen peroxide.
2.The material should resist wetting by hydrogen peroxide. Wetting appears to cause the material, if it ignites, to sustain a flame longer than if it was not wetted. This may be attributed to accumulated hydrogen peroxide providing an oxygen source.
3.The material should be clean and free of chemical reactants and catalytic impurities
4.The material should have flame self-extinguishing characteristics. The order of self-extinguishment of the materials tested appeared to follow the general order: Halogenated > Aromatic/aliphatic > Aliphatic
How does Doff’N DECON® affect skin pores and susceptibility to carcinogen exposure?
Exposure Summary: There are no credible studies of hydrogen peroxide exposure to human skin and the relationship of increasing absorption of carcinogenic materials. However, there are multiple studies that refer to using hydrogen peroxide as a holistic treatment for cancers.
